Tax Overview
Located in DuPage County, the Village of Willowbrook has one of the lowest tax rates for a municipality in the Chicago metropolitan area. The reason is twofold:
- The Village does not levy property tax for general village services
- A small tax levy is assessed for special recreation needs
- The total levy amount for these expenditures is $67,575 for levy year 2024, a tax rate of .0117%.
- The Village has a Parks and Recreation department rather than a Park District which acts as a separate taxing body. Funding for Parks and Recreation expenditures is provided from the Village’s operating budget.
Equalized Assessed Value
The Village has experienced continued growth in Equalized Assessed Value (EAV) for properties located within the Village. The Village tax base mix is comprised of:
- Residential: 55.1%
- Commercial: 8.7%
- Industrial: 4.4%
- Institutional 1.7%
- Other 30% (transportation, agricultural, open space, vacant)
