Annual Amnesty Day
The contract between the Village of Willowbrook and Groot Industries calls for an annual Amnesty Day. On Amnesty Day, residents can place an unlimited volume of acceptable refuse at the curb without waste/garbage stickers. The Amnesty Day pick-up will occur on your regularly scheduled garbage collection day of the week.
2025 Amnesty Days are September 22 - September 24, 2025, on your regularly scheduled garbage collection day.
Accepted Materials
Residents can place any material at the curb except for:
- Landscape waste (i.e. tree branches, grass clippings, leaves, brush, etc.)
- Tires
- Appliances
- Construction debris
- Electronics
- Televisions
- Paint
- Any glass items must be wrapped with plastic or cardboard and taped
Any material that does not fit into a can or bag must be securely tied in bundles not exceeding:
- 5' in length
- 2' in diameter
- 50 pounds in weight
Please be aware only single-family residents who have their refuse service provided by Groot are eligible for the 2025 Amnesty Day Collection.
