On November 9, 2020 I participated in DuPage Mayor and Manager’s conference call regarding COVID-19 data obtained from the DuPage County Health Department. Based on today’s information from the Director of the DuPage County Health Department and this afternoon’s press conference held by Governor Pritzker and Dr. Ezike (Director of the IDPH), and in the interest of virus containment and the greater public health concern, I am, as of today, November 9th, 2020 instituting the following:
Because the health metrics are continuing to head in the wrong direction, we anticipate TIER II will be reinstated. Our region, Region 8, (DuPage and Kane County) has recently incurred a positivity rate going from 9.8% to 13.3% and hospitalizations have increased from 40 to 52 in the last 14 days.
While I believe it is unconstitutional to mandate the wearing of masks, washing hands, and practicing social distancing, I pose a simple question. If you could cure cancer, the #2 killer in the U.S. by wearing a mask, washing hands, and practicing social distancing, would you? Absolutely. COVID-19 is the #3 killer, and it is avoidable. Please wear the mask as if your life depends upon it because it does.
I therefore urge every Willowbrook citizen to only leave home when necessary, and if you do, wear a mask and wash your hands often.
The Village Hall office and the Police Department buildings will be closed to the public until further notice. Remote working will be encouraged of all employees; with exception of our First Responders. Public Works employees will rotate shifts on a weekly basis until further notice. Additionally, our Public Parks will be included in the closure; no organized or group recreational activities will be allowed until further notice.
For additional information, please visit the Illinois Department of Public Health and the DuPage County Health Department websites. The citizens of Willowbrook need to protect one another NOW. The life you may be saving is your own. The sooner we protect each other by acting responsibly, the sooner we can get back to normal.
God Bless,
Mayor Frank Trilla
