Willowbrook would like to welcome Kristin Violante as the new Superintendent of Parks and Recreation. She will be taking over for Wally Righton following his retirement as Superintendent on May 5th. At the April 25 Village Board meeting, Mr. Righton was honored by the Board for his 34 years of service to the Village.
Mrs. Violante holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Recreation and Park Administration from Indiana University and has taken additional coursework in Therapeutic Recreation from St. Francis University. Her recreational administrative experience includes work at the Northwest Special Recreation Association in a variety of roles, most recently as its Volunteer/Leisure Education Coordinator. Prior to her work at NWSRA, Kristin taught for three years at the Burr Ridge Park District.
Mrs. Violante’s new duties as Superintendent will include serving as the liaison between the Willowbrook Village Board and the Parks and Recreation Commission, as well as serving as Willowbrook’s representative on the Board of the Gateway Special Recreation Association.
