Willowbrook Community Food Drive

Dear Willowbrook Community,

As we all know by now, 2020 has been and will continue to be a historic year in every level of our lives.  Eight months into the COVID-19 pandemic and we now routinely wear  masks, practice social distancing, wash our hands, and clean our homes, schools, and businesses on a continual basis.   Why do we do this?  Because Willowbrook is a Community that Cares.  We are committed to doing our part to stop the spread of COVID-19 to our families, our friends, our businesses, their employees and our neighbors.

While we continue to meet these many changes in our ‘new normal’, there are those of us that are experiencing a challenge beyond the 3 W’s.  They are facing food insecurity.  According to recent reporting from HCS Family Services, the need for families facing food insecurity in DuPage County has increased to such a level that our county is now the second largest  food-insecure  population in the state.  Each week more than 400 hundred people, running the risk of hunger, reach out to HCS Family Services through their food pantries located in Hinsdale and Willowbrook.

I am reaching out to each of you as we now have the opportunity to help those local families in need. The Village of Willowbrook and the Willowbrook Police Department have partnered with HCS Family Services *, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization for a Food Drive.  The dates for donation or food collection are from October 19th to October 23rd.  On October 23rd, we will have a NO-CONTACT DRIVE UP food drop off located at Ashton Place parking lot from 11:00am -1:00pm, where we will have our volunteers ready to accept your donation.

The Food Drive flyer (PDF) will provide more information, and for those not familiar with HCS Family Services, you can find their website:

If you can donate, your donation will be greatly appreciated by those in need.  I look forward to seeing you on the 23rd and to thank you personally for making our Village, a Community that Cares.
