At the March 8 meeting of the Village of Willowbrook Board of Trustees, Trustee Dr. Timothy T. McMahon announced that he will be resigning from the Board, effective March 22, 2010. Dr. McMahon has recently accepted a new position of employment at the University of Waterloo and will be moving to Ontario, Canada with his family in the near future. While this will be a great loss to the Village and the entire Willowbrook community, we understand this is an exciting opportunity for Dr. McMahon, and we wish him all the best in this new endeavor.
Dr. McMahon has a long history associated with the Village—he and his family first moved here in 1982, and, by 1990, he had volunteered to serve on the Parks and Recreation Commission. He later enthusiastically led the Commission on a variety of projects while serving as Chairman from 1999-2001.
After 10 years of service to the Parks and Recreation Commission, Dr. McMahon accepted an appointment to the Village Board in January 2001 and has dutifully continued in this capacity for the past nine years. As a trustee, he has served on the Finance and Administration Committee, where his expertise has helped in much of the Village’s long-term financial planning. During his tenure, Willowbrook has witnessed much positive change and taken great strides forward—including the completion of the Willowbrook Town Center, improvements to local open spaces (such as the permanent concession stand and restroom building at Community Park), an update to the Village Zoning Ordinance and Sign Code, completion of numerous road projects (like the 75th Street/Madison Street extension), and countless other items.
Our community has truly benefitted from Dr. McMahon’s service, vision, and knowledge. His leadership and dedication will be missed and not soon forgotten.
