Governor Quinn has signed into law the bill that was passed last week by the General Assembly (SB 3338) which extends the deadline to file petitions for the 2013 Municipal elections. The previous deadline was December 24, 2012. While Christmas Eve is not a State holiday, it has traditionally been either a full or half-day holiday for many local governments. The bill the Governor signed postpones the filing deadline to December 26th. Municipalities will no longer need to make special arrangements to stay open until 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
Filing petitions may be dropped off at the Village Hall beginning Monday, December 17, 2012 at 8:00 a.m. until Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. Village offices will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, December 24th & 25th.
