DuPage County businesses are invited to join DuPage County at a Commercial Composting Stakeholders Meeting on Tuesday, May 15th. The County is hosting this meeting for businesses and organizations interested in diverting food scraps from the waste stream. This meeting will take place from 9 am to 11 am at the County Administration Auditorium, located at 421 N. County Farm Road in Wheaton.
Today, at least 30% of the waste stream includes food waste, which is compostable and the food scraps can be utilized to make a nutrient-rich soil amendment. With food scraps going to landfill, we are missing an opportunity to return these natural resources to the soil. There are many DuPage businesses interested in composting their food scraps, and they need more information & resources to get started.
This meeting will bring together all stakeholders – food scrap generators, waste companies, compost facilities – to form a cohesive network and establish commercial composting routes. The County’s role is to bring together disparate efforts and create synergy amongst stakeholders county-wide.
Attend this FREE meeting if:
1. You are a retailer, hotel, restaurant, hospital, school, waste company, compost facility, chamber of commerce, municipality or business with a large cafeteria
2. You provide additional resources for commercial composting
3. You are interested in commercial composting
Please RSVP to the County for the meeting no later than Friday, May 11th by calling (630) 407-6771.
