The Village of Willowbrook Municipal Services Department would like to inform residents to be on the lookout for Apple Scab Fungus which attacks Crab Apple trees during the Spring and early Summer. Apple scab fungus can be observed on leaves, blossoms and fruit. The symptoms occur on leaves and fruit and look like small velvety brown to olive-green spots that enlarge and darken to become more or less circular.
In order to combat the Apple Scab Fungus, a series (usually 3 applications) of anti-fungal sprays are necessary. If you happen to notice any of the symptoms listed above, please contact an arborist for instructions on how best to deal with this problem.
