FOIA Instructions
Request for Public Records
Interested parties may make a request to view or obtain a copy of public records by submitting their request in writing. A requestor may either submit a completed
Freedom of Information Act form, an email, or letter submitted by mail or fax.
Once received, the Village has five (5) business days to respond to the request. If the request is for a commercial purpose, then the Village has twenty one (21) business days to provide an initial response.

Costs for Copies
The new law allows for the first 50 pages of black and white, letter or legal size pages to be copied without charge. After 50 pages, a fee of .15 cents for the same pages can be charged. If copies are provided in color or sizes other than letter or legal, the Village is allowed to charge actual cost. The Police Department will charge $5.00 for reports as per State Statute.

The Police Department reports can be requested by an insurance company without a Request for Public Records.
